Abstract

The San Diu ethnic group is one of the peoples who still preserve the traditional folk songs called "Soong co". Soong co singing has been formed, existed and developed along with the existence and development of the San Diu ethnic group, now being handed down mainly in some areas such as Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc and Bac Giang. In particular, the Soong co songs of the San Diu people in Bac Giang have both similar and different features and appearance compared to other regions. To clarify this, we conducted fieldwork to collect data, analyze texts, compare documents, and synthesize and interdisciplinary research. The research results showed that the folk songs of the San Diu people have both cultural and literary value. Their lyrics content is rich, imbued with their own identity, especially the love songs; their structure is close to Tang poetry, but the language is extremely simple and rustic, creating an attraction of Soong co songs.
