Abstract

By collecting samples of earthworms around the breeding facilities and native pigfields in Dien Bien province, and based on the classification system of the earthworm ofBlakemore (2002), Do Van Nhuong (1994), Perrier (1872), Thai Tran Bai (1984), Gates (1936), Beddard (1892), Kinberg (1867): 7 species of earthworm had been identified, including Pontoscolexcorethrurus, Amynthasplantoporophoratus, Amynthasmorrisi, Amynthas robustus, Amynthascorticis, Amynthas aspergillum and Amynthaspauxillulus. The earthworm had high frequency of occurence such as Pontoscolexcorethrurus (72.06%), Amynthas robustus (13.73%), Amynthasmorrisi (4.90%), Amynthas aspergillum (3.43%), Amynthascorticis (3.43%). 2 species were recorded as intermediate host of lungworm infecting local pigs is Pontoscolexcorethrurus and Amynthas aspergillum with the prevalence and intensity of infection with pulmonary worms, respectively 32.65% (11.23 ± 1.31 larvae/sample) and 28.57% (3.50 ± 2.50 larvae/sample).
