Abstract

This research aims to understand the reality of multidimensional poverty and analyze the factors affecting multidimensional poverty among ethnic minorities. It also points out the causes of slow poverty reduction in some ethnic minority groups, thereby giving some recommendations in the process of implementing the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction and poverty reduction policies in order to ensure the quality of life for Thai Nguyen’s ethnic minorities. The main methods used in the study are the quantitative method to understand the data on poor households of ethnic minorities and the qualitative method to understand the causes of poverty. The research results show that the poverty rate of ethnic minority households in Thai Nguyen decreased from 6.0% per year in 2016 to 3.37% in 2021. However, because the population mostly engaged in agriculture, basic labor and quickly impacted by changes in natural catastrophes, pandemic, a slight shock might force households that have just escaped poverty become poor again.Hence, it is essential to continue developing solutions that are appropriate for the current situation in order to eliminate poverty sustainably and enhance the quality of life for ethnic minorities.
