STATUS OF PREVENTION OF MOTHER TO CHILD TRANSMISSION IN THAI NGUYEN 2016

Prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission has achieved remarkable results in recent years. The rate of mother-to-child transmission of HIV tends to decrease over the years. The study aimed to evaluate the results of implementation of mother-to-child HIV prevention in Thai Nguyen province in 2016. Research method: cross-sectional description combines with qualitative and quantitative method. The study found that the percentage of pregnant women tested during pregnancy was 72.4% and 27.6% of pregnant women tested late at the time of labor. The percentage of HIV pregnant women was 0.06%. The rate of mother-to-child transmission of HIV is 0.0%. Thai Nguyen has a network of testing counselors from the province to the district and commune health stations so the rate of pregnant women who was counseled to test was high. Recommendations: Prevention of mother to child transmission should be maintained to achieve the set goals, with particular attention to communication and counseling for pregnant women to have an early HIV test.
