Abstract
Background: In Viet Nam, the self-use of antibiotics is quite common. This study aims to assess the current situation of antibiotic using of people at Hop Thanh commune, Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province in 2017.
Study method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 1319 adults at Hop Thanh commune, Phu Luong district in 2017.
Results: The percentage of people who know the right doses of antibiotics using followed doctors’ prescribe was 78.5%; know antibiotic using time 75.1%; know the cause of antibiotic resistance 50.6%. The percentage of practicing antibiotics followed doctors’ prescribe 40.6%. The percentage of adverse drug reaction by antibiotics using 6.9% and allergy was 8.8%. The percentage of antibiotics purchased at public facilities was 60.3%. The percentage of subjects who find it easy to buy antibiotics was 93.4%.
Conclusion: The practice of correct antibiotics using of the people at Hop Thanh commune was not high.
