Abstract

Nguyen Huy Oanh is a talented eighteenth-century Confucian scholar, who is gifted in politics and diplomatic and has a soulful spirit. He composed poetry during his career as a mandarin. Aesthetic and artistic values in his poetry could be considered as classical. As a deposit, a thank-you, a sentiment, the moon appears in many poems of Nguyen Huy Oanh and carries many different meanings. The moon obsesses the poet on his diplomatic journey, the moon helps the Confucius scholar express his feelings and attitude, and the moon floats on the rooftop of the retired mandarin.
