Abstract


Developing vocabulary is one of the important tasks in preschool. Vocabulary development can be done in many activities, including activities to familiarize children with poetic works because there are many special advantages. This study aims to analyze the current situation of vocabulary development for 5-6 years old children in getting acquainted activities with poetic works in preschools. Thereby, some measures to help develop vocabulary for 5-6 years old children in activities to familiarize children with poetic works have been proposed. The methods used in the research include the survey method by questionnaire, the statistical method to process data, the research method of products and activities, and the observation method. The results showed that all the teachers surveyed thought that it was very important to develop vocabulary for 5-6 years old children by familiarizing themselves with poetic works. However, the measures that teachers use are still ineffective because they have not used them thoroughly and have not followed the goal of vocabulary development. Therefore, this study proposes two main measures to improve the effectiveness of vocabulary development for 5-6 years old children through activities to familiarize children with poetic works.
