Abstract

The article, through use of desk research, explores how practicums or internships are organized for pedagogical student at some teacher education institutions in the United States, Finland and Thailand, in comparison with the organization of practicums in teacher education institutions in Vietnam. On that basis, the article proposes a number of contents that need to be changed in the organization of practicum activities in order to make teacher education in Vietnam flexible and regular with close support from both the school accepting student teaching and the teacher education institution. The research results are aimed to help teacher education institutions in Vietnam with more scientific data to re-evaluate the effectiveness of organizing practicums for students and come up with measures for improving the quality of teacher education, which are appropriate to the practical context of Vietnam.
