Abstract

Age and stem position have affected the physical properties of the bamboo. However, at a certain age, the properties of the bamboo will be stabilize. Each bamboo species has a different geographical location and fluctuates according to different rules. Research on this Dendrocalamus brandisii (Munro) Kurz) was carried out in Doan Hung district, Phu Tho province. Sampling and performing experiments were carried out according to GB/T 15780-1995 standards. Research results show that at different ages, humidity decreases gradually from root to tip (90.32-149.44%), and from age 1 to age 5 (89.92-163.72%). Weight increases gradually from root to tip (0.45-0.56 g/cm3), from age 1 to 3, and it is stable until age 5 (0.40-0.57 g/cm3). Shrinkage decreases gradually from root to tip (Radial: 10.75-16.79%; Tangential: 6.40-9.72%), from age 1 to age 5 (Radial: 8.97-19.65%; tangential: 5.55-10.99%). The above results show that the physical properties of Dendrocalamus brandisii change clearly according to age and stem position on the trunk. Age fluctuates more clearly than stem position on the trunk.
