Abstract

The study aims to describe some clinical characteristics of pediatric patients with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis at the National Children's Hospital in 2020-2023. Descriptive research method combined retrospective and prospective on 36 patients diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis for the first time at the National Children's Hospital in the period. Research results show that the age of disease onset is different between RF+ and RF- types, the male:female ratio is 1:1.77. Cases own diagnosed time within 6 weeks - 6 months from the first symptoms counted for 58.3%. Fever is the most common symptom among systemic symptoms (38.9%). 100% of patients have symptoms of pain when moving and examining joints. Other common symptoms are limited movement (97.2%) and increase joint temperature (94.4%). The rate of symmetrical joint inflammation of RF+ and RF- is 100% and 77.4%, respectively. At the time of diagnosis, the median number of active inflammatory joints was 9 (5-60) joints. The median VAS score was 6 (4-9) assessed by doctors and 6 (4-10) assessed by family members/patients.
