Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage is one of the five obstetric complications and the leading cause of maternal death. This is a dangerous complication that can lead to serious consequences. If not promptly treated and resuscitated well, the pregnant woman will die very quickly. With the goal of determining the rate and some common causes of postpartum hemorrhage in pregnant women giving birth at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2022, we conducted research on a total of 101 research subjects. Using the cross-sectional descriptive method, we have obtained the following results: The rate of postpartum hemorrhage in 2022 at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital is 0.38%. The average age of the study subjects was 31.89 ± 6.04 years old. The group of pregnant women who gave birth ≥3 times accounted for 30.7%. The study group with a history of curettage, aspiration, and miscarriage accounted for 19.8%. The rate of postpartum hemorrhage in the cesarean section group was 60.4%. The time of detection of postpartum hemorrhage is in the first 2 hours after giving birth, accounting for 78.1%. The cause of postpartum hemorrhage is due to abnormal placenta placement, and the placenta accounts for the highest rate (77.2%). The rate of postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony is 21.8%, due to placenta previa is 60.4%.
