Abstract

A retrospective study was conducted to describe the clinical and subclinical characteristics of intrauterine stillbirths of 22 weeks and above at the Obstetrics Center - Thai Nguyen National Hospital in 2021 - 2023. Data were collected on 66 stillbirth patients using a pre-designed research medical record. The results show that, the average age of pregnant women is 31.3 ± 6.1 years old. There are 77.3% of pregnant women who have never had a stillbirth. 47.0% of pregnant women detect stillbirth because of abdominal pain, 9.1% because the fetus was not moving, and 25.8% discovered the stillbirth during a periodic prenatal examination. The average age of stillbirth was 27.9 ± 4.9 weeks. The rate of fetus age in the 22-27week group is 60.6%. 21.2% of fetuses had oligohydramnios, and 6.1% of fetuses had amniotic fluid depleted. The rate of polyhydramnios is 4.5%. There were 15.2% placental fibrosis and 6.1% placental edema. The proportion of pregnant women with low hemoglobin accounts for 16.7%. Stillbirth is common in the preterm gestational age group and is often detected due to abdominal pain and regular prenatal check-ups. A significant proportion of stillbirths have abnormalities in the amount of amniotic fluid, fetal placenta and hemoglobin of the pregnant woman.
