Abstract


Testing tapeworm in dogs and cats at three wards in Thai Nguyen city. The result showed that the prevalence of tapeworm infection was comparatively high prevalence at three localities in Thai Nguyen city. The prevalence of tapeworm in dog feces was 25.49%; in cats was 9.80%, the infection intensity vacilated from 1 to 13 burning flukes per one time defecated in dog  and 1 to 2 burning flukes in cat. The prevalence of tapeworm in dogs and cats increased in accordance with age. The prevalence of tapeworm in domestic dogs was highest (38.46%), followed by hybrid dogs (24.07%) and lowest in foreign dogs (12.77%). Dogs and cats infected with tapeworms were higher in summer-autumn season than those in winter-spring season. The clinical symptoms in dogs, cats infected with tapeworm disease are weak, poor eating, neurological symptoms, gastrointestinal disorders, burning flukes defecated. The rate of dogs with clinical symptoms was 23.08% (vacilating from 11.11% to 100%) and in cats was 20.00%.
