Abstract


Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a high crop of economic-valued. This study was carried out in order to evaluate the effect of NaCl on selected parameters of growth and photosynthesis of the 4 potato varieties Marabel, KT1, KT5, Solara. The results have shown that, the plant’s height decreased 1.14%-27.97%, the total area of leaves reduced 8.31%-83.73% and dry mass of root declined 5.12%-54.7% compared to the control. A significant decrease of these paramatters is recorded by Marabel and KT5 and that of KT1 variety reduced slightly. The survival living plant rate of KT1 is higher than the other 3 varieties. The net photosynthesis rate declined 25.16%-93.82%, the total content of chlorophyll declined 8.51%-41.21% compared to the first sample. KT1 had the least decrease in both the total content of chlorophyll and the net photosynthesis rate of 4 varieties. In this study, KT1 showed better salinity tolerance than others.
