Abstract


Rationale: Stress has been becoming a common phenomenon in society today. With out knowing strategies on dealing with stress, it will result in complex and serious consequences. Especially, nurses are working in an environment that have a lot of risks causing stress.

Objectives: study the stress situation of nurses in Nam Dinh General Hospital. On that basis, proposing solutions for preventing and reducing stress  for nurses of Nam Dinh General Hospital.

Research methods: A combinaiton of qualitative and quantitative method.

Results: The most obvious physical symptoms of stress of the  nurses are headaches, tiredness, insomnia, and gloomy thoughts. Psychological symptoms include: angry or fastidious. There are 11 ways of preventing and 6 ways of coping with stress corresponding with frequency of always, sometimes and never. Mostly used prevention methods include talking with others, reconsidering time management, reading books, newspapers, and watching television. Doing yoga, meditation, or qigong are less commonly used.
