Abstract

Stroke in general and cerebral infarction in particular are diseases with a high mortality rate, leaving serious sequelae, greatly affecting the patient, and being a burden for families and society. With the goal of describing clinical characteristics and risk factors in patients with cerebral infarction in some northern mountainous provinces, we conducted a study on 100 patients diagnosed with cerebral infarction (time of first stroke ≤ 60 years old) treated at the Stroke Center, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital volunteered to participate in the study. Using descriptive and analytical research methods, we have obtained the following results: 77% of patients arrived at the hospital after 4.5 hours from onset; Common clinical symptoms are: motor weakness/paralysis, difficulty speaking and mouth distortion: 97%, 95% and 72%, respectively. Headache accounted for 49%, numbness accounted for 41%, dizziness/vertigo accounted for 27%, circular muscle disorders accounted for 21%, nausea/vomiting accounted for 8%. 70% have a history of hypertension and 77% have dyslipidemia.
