Abstract

This study using a 7-point scale to assess the level of community participation in lagoon tourism activities in Quang Loi showed that the role of local people was not yet prominent. The fact that people mainly provide input services and work at service establishments is not commensurate with the local potential. Using a sequential exploratory approach and a 5-point Likert scale for assessment, the study identified 7 groups of factors affecting participation, including: household characteristics, local people's awareness of community tourism, livelihood benefits, tourism resources and market, local tourism planning and development, community organizations and relatives, and impact of adverse events. The results of one-way ANOVA analysis showed that there were fundamental differences in the level of influence between age groups and educational attainment. To develop the community tourism model in the locality, it is necessary to strengthen the participation of local people by removing obstacles in the management mechanism, providing training to improve capacity, and supporting people to improve tourism infrastructure.
