NEW RECORDS OF REPTILES (REPTILIA: SQUAMATA: SERPENTES) FROM THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

Abstract


Based on recently herpetological collection from 2013 to 2014, we herein report three reptiles, namely Gekko palmatus, Boiga multomaculata, and Oligodon formosanus in Thai Nguyen province. Our findings bring the species number of the reptiles to 62 in Thai Nguyen province. In addition, we provide further morphological data for these newly recorded species. Gekko palmatus species morphological characteristics consistent with the description of Hech et al. (2013) [4] and Nguyen et al. (2013) [6], Boiga multomaculata species morphological characteristics are consistent with the description of Smith (1943) [7], Nguyen Van Sang (2007) [2], Ziegler et al. (2010) [9], species Oligodon formosanus morphological characteristics consistent with the description of Smith (1943) [7], Nguyen Van Sang (2007) [2], Vassilieva et al. (2013) [8]. With these findings, the total reptile species in the Thai Nguyen province has been raised to 62 species. In addition to the samples of the three species collected in Thai Nguyen province, we provide additional data on the morphology and ecology of these three reptiles.
