Abstract

Background: Moringa oleifera has many valuable biological effects. Polyphenol compounds play an important role in preventing the harmful effects of oxidative stress. It is necessary to develop and validate a quantitative analysis procedure of total polyphenols in the leaves of Moringa oleifera using UV-VS method to control the quality of Moringa oleifera. Material and Methods: leaves of Moringa oleifera are collected in Hue city. Determining total polyphenols using UV-VIS method based on reaction between polyphenols and folin-ciocalteu reagent; validate this procedure according to AOAC guidelines. Results: The quantitative analysis was performed by reaction between total polyphenols and folin-ciocalteu reagent with detective wavelength of 765 nm. The method was validated to have satisfied linearity in the range of 10-50 mg/ml. Intra-day and inter-day precision tests showed the RSD% < 2% and desirable accuracy (revovery 98.79% - 101.93%). Conclusion: The quantitative analysis procedure  of total polyphenols from Moringa oleifera using UV-VIS method was validated.
