Trí tuệ cảm xúc được xem là nhân tố dự đoán sự thành công và là nhân tố mang lại hạnh phúc cho con người nên có ý nghĩa quan trọng trong quá trình phát triển của sinh viên đặc biệt là sinh viên điều dưỡng. Bài báo đề cập đến mức độ trí tuệ cảm xúc và tìm hiểu một số nguyên nhân ảnh hưởng đến sự phát triển trí tuệ cảm xúc của sinh viên đại học điều dưỡng chính quy Trường Đại học Điều dưỡng Nam Định. 420 sinh viên đại học điều dưỡng chính quy trường đại học điều dưỡng Nam Định được làm test trắc nghiệm EQ của Bar-On (1997). Phân tích kết quả cho thấy: Trí tuệ cảm xúc của sinh viên đại học điều dưỡng chính quy đa số ở mức trung bình (78,1%), tỷ lệ kém (4,3%), mức cao (17,6%). Năng lực nhận thức và bày tỏ cảm xúc của sinh viên tốt hơn năng lực thấu hiểu và quản lý cảm xúc bản thân. Các nguyên nhân được sinh viên đánh giá là có ảnh hưởng đến sự phát triển trí tuệ cảm xúc: cao nhất là giáo dục của gia đình và nhu cầu, mong muốn nâng cao trí tuệ cảm xúc của bản thân; thấp nhất là nghề nghiệp của cha mẹ và di truyền từ cha mẹ. Kết quả này là tài liệu tham khảo cho sinh viên và nhà trường có kế hoạch phù hợp giúp sinh viên tăng cường năng lực trí tuệ cảm xúc.
