Abstract

The study aimed to determine the prevalence of stunting among children aged 3 to 5 years at Thai Do Kindergarten, Thai Binh province, and to develop a predictive model for stunting based on dietary characteristics. A total of 264 children were included in the study. Nutritional status was assessed using the World Health Organization (WHO) 2006 standards. The prevalence of stunting was found to be 9.47%. The significant risk factors were the lack of exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months (OR = 13.27; P < 0.0001), having inadequate breakfast (OR = 2.811; P = 0.036) and controlled eating (OR = 3.66; P = 0.009). Logistic regression analysis of four dietary habits yielded the best predictive model for stunting, with an Area Under the Curve (AUC) value of 0.877. These findings indicate a strong correlation between dietary habits and the prevalence of stunting in 3-5-year-old children at Thai Do Kindergarten, Thai Binh province.
