Abstract


Interprofessional collaboration is a critical factor in enhancing the efficiency of healthcare systems. However, lack of evidence on attitude about Interprofessional Collaboration Readiness among resident doctors. The study aims to evaluate Interprofessional Collaboration Readiness among resident doctors in Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy. A cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted in August 2024, involving 87 resident doctors across seven specialties. The study utilized the 19-item Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale with a 5-point Likert scale for assessing attude. Differences in attitudes between the two groups were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-test. The results revealed that participants generally held positive attitudes towards interprofessional collaboration, with a mean score of 3.9 ± 0.14 and the highest score was 4.1±0.4 among Surgery resident doctors. Significant differences were observed in the mean scores of the Professional Identity subscale between genders (p<0.01) and between first-year residents and those in their second or third years (p<0.01). Resident doctors exhibited favorable attitudes towards interprofessional collaboration. It should be priority for male and first-year trainees to enhance aspects of professional identity in interprofessional collaboration. Further research is needed to explore how educational interventions can enhance interprofessional compentency readiness in medical training.
