Abstract


Objective: 1) To evaluate the nutrional status and associated factors with malnutrition among children under five years old in Bac Ninh Maternity and Children hospital in 2018-2019. Method: A cross-sectional study of 758 children aged aged 0–60 months were selected from the Outpatient Department. Results: The prevalence of underweight, stunting and wasting among children aged 0–5 years was 11.0%, 11.1% and 13.7% respectively. Prevalence of underweight in the boys group was signifcantly higher than girls group. The prevalence of overweight was 4.9%. Malnutrition signifcantly associated with having breastfeeding in the first hour afer birth, age of starting complementary foods (more than 6months), the normal birth weight and digestive diseases in the last 6 months. Conclussion: It is necessary to strengthen of health education on pregnancy health, breastfeeding in the first hour afer birth, and complementary feeding on time to reduce malnutrition in children.
