THE EXPLOITATION OF METAL MINES BY THE FRENCH IN LAO CAI DURING THE END OF THE 19 AND BEGINNING OF 20TH CENTURIES

Being a northern mountainous province, Lao Cai has abundant and diverse mineral resources. Therefore when capturing our country, the French colonial government issued decrees and ordinances on exploring, transferring and mining activities in Indochina. In this paper, the author uses historical and logical methods, analytical as well as synthesis methods for studying the following contents: the history of Laocai province; mining decrees of the French colonial government; the exploration of metal mines in Laocai province in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. From the research content, the author makes some comments on the exploration of metal mines by the French capitalists in Lao Cai in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
