Abstract


Thai Nguyen University is in the process of integration towards quality and becoming a leading center of training, scientific research and technology transfer in Vietnam and in the region. Teaching and learning English is considered one of the key factors. Therefore, the evaluation of the curriculum, quality assurance, ensuring factors affecting the quality of English learning is a necessary and indispensable requirement. This study examines the attitudes and opinions of English lecturers at Thai Nguyen University on factors affecting the quality of English learning. Quantitative method was used with the questionnaire survey as data collection instrument for the present study. Research results showed that English teachers at Thai Nguyen University are quite satisfied with their work, the lecturers have the right concept of career as well as responsibility for each lecture in class and extracurricular activities. The study also pointed out some points to improve the quality of English learning such as language labs, classroom teaching equipment as well as the need for appropriate teaching materials and curriculum which are suitable with practical conditions in the Northern mountainous areas.
