Abstract

Subsynchronous resonance (SSR) is an extremely dangerous problem in the electrical power system. This phenomenon can occur in electrical systems due to the interaction of the turbine shaft and the transmission grid with series capacitors installation. This paper presents the eigenlavue method for SSR analysis. The theoretical basis is presented in detail. Since, we have applyed this method for analysis and evaluation of SSR with a standard IEEE model.

Keywords

Electrical power system; subsynchronous resonance; transmission line; eigenlavue method; turbine – generator system; IEEE first benchmark model.
