RESEARCHING FACTORS AFFECTING THE DECISION ON LARGE-SIZED TIMBER PLANTATION IN HAI LANG DISTRICT, QUANG TRI PROVINCE

Abstract


Planting large-sized timber forests in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province is one of the new directions in the district's forestry sector to promote sustainable forest management. However, factors regarding household characteristics, socio-economic and natural factors in forest owners' decision to plant forests have not been paid attention. This study surveyed 150 households in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province, including 80 households planting for small-sized timber and 70 households planting for large-sized timber. The results of the binary regression analysis show that the influencing factors include: Community support, FSC participation, Market understanding are the main factors influencing decisions of large timber plantation owners in the study area.
