Abstract

Research to cross between three remarkable exotic pig breeds as Duroc (D), Piétrain (P) and Landrace (L) for creating cross-breeds with hight quantity and quality meat product have been interesting. The purpose of research is selecting individual boars and sows for cross-bred materials of terminal boars which using to produce commercial pigs with hight quantity and quality meat. The research was implemented on 120 individuals of pure breed of D, P, L with monitoring indicators of individual productivity, such as body weight gain (BWG) and  back fat thick layer (BFTL). This data will be use to evaluate of breeding value - BV and selection index - Inx for each breed following the VCE5 and PIGBLUP programme. The research results showed that all of individual groups had Inx above 100 points, and BV>0 (with BWG), BV<0 (with BFTL). These results proved that the genetic potential of all individuals were higher the average of all breed heads when evaluated about two characteristics of BWG and BFTL. The research results on BV and Inx of 120 individuals helping to picked out the best of 7 boars and 15 sows for each breed group as cross-bred material for terminal boars.
