The objective of this paper is to present the design and construction of digital overvoltage protection relays with independent protection characteristics for the purpose of teaching at the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Technology, Thai Nguyen University. The article in turn presents hardware design based on Atmega16 microcontroller, which is a popular microcontroller in the market, software design and experiments for digital over-voltage protection relays. The purpose of these experiments is to assess and confirm the quality of the relay. The above content is also useful information for students to study digital relays in general.
