Abstract

Panax pseudoginseng Wall (Panax repens Maxim) is one of the valuable medicinal plants with high economic value, there have been many studies on Panax pseudoginseng Wall, but the studies mainly focused on active ingredients and care techniques of Panax pseudoginseng Wall. Studies to determine the suitable location of Panax pseudoginseng Wall's land are still limited, so this research  focuses on appropriate land classification for Panax pseudoginseng Wall development. The author uses FAO's land evaluation method in combination with ALES to determine the suitable land unit for Panax pseudoginseng Wall plantation. Through the study, 62 soil units in the study area were identified, and on the basis of gro wing conditions of Panax pseudoginseng Wall, an appropriate classification map of Panax pseudoginseng Wall land was established. The result is a highly suitable land area is 1,262.71 ha; moderately suitable is 5,255.30 ha; marginally suitable is 107,309.12 ha; unsuitable is 25,019.14 ha. The research results are an important basis for the orientation and solutions to develop Panax pseudoginseng Wall in Lao Cai province in the coming time.
