Abstract

In this paper, we focus on researching and evaluating OSPF's own performance on two IPv4 technology infrastructures with IPv6 based on empirical simulation method and thereby making quantitative conclusions about the performance of OSPF on each IPv4 technology infrastructure with IPv6. The results show that changing the value of bandwidth on the ports of the router has changed the total metric results of the algorithm, the larger the bandwidth, the smaller the metric. The total latency of packets on the IPv6 infrastructure is less than the total latency of packets on the IPv4 infrastructure (specifically, less than 10,083 ms in this study). Data transmission time using OSPFv3 protocol on IPv6 infrastructure is faster than OSPFv2 protocol on IPv4  infrastructure.
