Preterm labor is the leading cause of death in newborn infants and is the second leading cause of death in infants under 5 years of age. Prevalence rates in Vietnam now range from 6.5% to 16%. Objectives:To describe the clinical characteristics of patients who are prone to premature delivery and evaluate the results of preterm treatment at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital in 2017. Selection criteria: All medical records were diagnosed to threaten premature labor from 22 weeks to less than 37 weeks. Healthy, open cervix under 4 cm, membranes intact and inpatient treatment at Department of Obstetrics, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. Study time. Exclusion criteria: Cases of termination of pregnancy due to maternal morbidity, stillbirth, fetal distress or other social reasons. Study Design: Cross sectional description. Study site: Department of Obstetrics, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. Study time: From 01 January 2017 to 31 December 2017.
Conclusion: The prevalence of preterm birth is 10.2% of total. Nospa and Salbutamol were the two most commonly used to reduce the contraction of the uterus, with a single-agent contraceptive therapy being more selective, accounting for 75.7% of patients treated for preterm labor. Progesterone was used in 28.9% of patients with preterm labor. The incidence of successful preterm births was 89.3%.Keywords
