THE CURRENT OF PLASTIC WASTE FROM ACTIVITIES TO VISIT PRISONERS AT QUYET TIEN PRISON, TUYEN QUANG PROVINCE

Abstract


This article focuses on researching the current of plastic waste from visiting prisoners at Quyet Tien prison, Tuyen Quang province. The authors used basic methods including: information collection, actual survey and statistical methods of information processing. The authors have classified and weighed plastic waste originating from visiting prisoners on a daily basis for 1 month. By calculating the average value to calculate the amount of waste in 1 year. As a result, there are 3 groups of plastic waste including: Plastic bags, candy shells and plastic boxes. In which, nylon accounts for the highest proportion at 66.96%. The volume of plastic waste generated in April 2021 is 235,695kg. Every Sunday and close the public holidays, the amount of plastic waste generated is a significantly increase because of the higher number of visits prisoners, on average on these days, the amount of plastic waste is 10.53 kg/day, while others On other days, the average amount of plastic waste is 7.49 kg/day. At the prison, no solutions for sorting, recycling or reducing plastic waste have been applied. Prisons should ask family members to visit inmates to limit carrying plastic bags and non-degradable plastic boxes; replaced with some other environmentally friendly materials.
