EMBED TRADITIONAL CULTURE VALUES IN THE STORY OF LUC VAN TIEN BY NGUYEN DINH CHIEU IN CIVIC EDUCATION FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Story of Luc Van Tien by Nguyen Dinh Chieu is considered as an archive which stores and preserves many national traditional cultural values. If being well exploited, this literary work is highly valuable in the civic education for high school students according to the orientation of the 2018 General Education Program. The article’s main research methods are literary and interdisciplinary research methods. The method of analyzing literary works aims to clarify the traditional cultural values that the author has embed in the work. The interdisciplinary research method allows us to combine literary knowledge with knowledge of many other fields such as history, culture, society, Confucianism, and civic education to see the topicality as well as the educational value in this Nom narrative poem. Thereby, the article contributes an orientation to exploiting materials to teach Vietnamese language arts according to the policy of developing competence and dignity for high school students today.
