EFFECTS OF HUMAN RESOURCE PRACTICES AND WORK LIFE BALANCE ON RETENTION OF WOMEN PROFESSIONALS IN HANOI

Abstract


Along with the development of world economy, more and more women become self-employed. Women should be recognized as an important tool in workplaces and society. This study investigated the effect of HR practices and work life on the retention of women professionals in Hanoi. The sample size of the paper was 420 women who work as managers and employees in Women Union. A questionnaire was designed in both open and close ended along with Likert’s scale questions. After being collected, data were analyzed in 3 steps: 1) using simple statistical techniques and descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviations; 2) using Cronbach’s Alpha and KMO for suitable questions, 3) using EFA and regression for finding impacts of factors on dependent variable.

The result showed that HR practices and work life balance factors significantly affected the retention in Women union in Hanoi city, therefore, the organization should focus more on improving the existing HR practices and work life balance to keep their women professionals in the long term. Based on the major finding, this study also gave some recommendations to solve the limitations of HR practices and work life balance during the period from 2018-2022 in women union. In the future, a study on a more precise and more applicable to the women union, and analyze impact of HR practices and work life balance and atmosphere on women union in Vietnam is recommended.
