About this article
Published: 27/04/18Abstract
The classification of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas in adults and children has undergone several major modifications over the past 40 years. Nowadays, in Vietnam and many countries in the world still apply the Histopathology classification according to the Working Formulation, because it is easy to apply, low cost. However, the Working Formulation also revealed some inadequacies such as: not suitable between histology and development of the tumor in clinical, especially children and a failure to classify the cell group. Currently, classification of the World Health Organization 2001 is still widely used in Viet Nam and contributes to high efficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The classification of the World Health Organization 2008 is a detailed classification system which has practical significance but it is not widely used in Vietnam because of the expensive cost and the requirement for the pathologists to have an in-depth understanding of lymphoma. In the future, this classification should be used in the practice of diagnosis and treatment.
