STUDY ON PROPAGATION AND CARING OF TRAN MONG XUAN ORCHIS VERIETY (Cymbidium lowianum) AT PHIA OAC – PHIADEN, NGUYEN BINH DISTRICT, CAO BANG PROVINCE

Tran Mong Xuan orchid (Cymbidium lowianum) is a native orchid variety which was experimentally cultivated at Phia Oac – Phia Den National Park belonging Thanh Cong commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province. Plant branch separation is very effective mean of propagation in orchids. The expermental results of propagation and caring for this variety shown that 2 separated branch seedlings and 3 separated branch seedlings produced 3.0 and 5.0 new branches/ pot, respectively. For number of flower stalks, 2.0 and 4.0 flower stalks/ pot were observed in 2 separated branch seedlings and 3 separated branch seedlings, respectively. Use of 50% charcoal waste + 50% coir peat powder gave 5.3 branches/ pot and 6.7 flower stalks/ pot. Use of Dau Trau folliage fertilizer 502 resulted in 8.0 new branches/ pot and 11.7 flower stalks/ pot.
