Abstract

The object of the research is the collection of Chu Lai’s short stories published by Literature Publishing House in 2008 (3rd edition), consisting of 26 short stories. The purpose of the study is to point out the identifying signs of female characters appearing in the group of survey works. On the basic concepts of literary theory, the criterion of content reflection is the main tool for surveying and classifying. This study used main methods such as statistics, comparison, exclusion, and meta-analysis. Therefrom, the author determined some basic contents such as factors to categorize and identify female characters in works (03 groups), the main emotions (respect, love, sympathy, understanding and sharing), and the author's realistically describing style . The results of the study contribute to the research and teaching of modern Vietnamese literature after 1975 on the topic of war and post-war.
