Abstract

Attitudes, skills, and knowledge are three components of professional competence and play different roles in each field. Recognizing the role of these factors will help teaching and learning activities be clearly oriented so that students can gain the necessary professional competencies right after graduation. Descriptive statistics is used to analyze the role of attitudes - knowledge - skills in the hospitality industry from the perspective of students, lecturers, and employers. The results show that both lecturers and employers agree that attitudes are the most important factor, followed by skills and knowledge. However, the perception of students is not suitable for businesses when they think that skills are the most important factor. In addition, the study also finds out important attitudes, skills, and knowledge in the hospitality industry. In the light of the research results, a number of suggestions for training institutions, lecturers, and students are given in order to raise the professional awareness of students and help training activities meet the needs of the recruitment agencies.
