Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the early results of radical surgery for gastric cancer at Thai Nguyen Oncology Center. From January 2020 to June 2022, we conducted a cross-sectional description of 63 patients with stage I-III gastric cancer, who underwent radical surgery. The results showed that, the mean age was 63.1 ± 10.8 years old (range 34 - 85). Male/female ratio was 2.15/1. The most common of tumor was in the stomach antrum (35 patients, 55,6%). Before surgery, 47 patients were classified as stage N0 (74.6%), 9 cases were classified as Tx (14.3%). 100% of patients had planned surgery, of which 52.4% (33 patients) were indicated for 3/4 gastric resection, and 42.9% were 4/5 gastric resection (27 patients). 74.6% of patients had D2 lymphadenectomy; 25.6% D1 lymphadenectomy. The average surgical time was 202.5 ± 46.5 minutes (range 120 to 330 minutes). Intraoperative accidents were very low, the rate of intraoperative complications (early post-operatve infection) were found in 7 patients (11.1%). Thus, radical surgery for stage I - III gastric cancer has quite good early results and acceptable complications.
