Abstract

Meloxicam is an active ingredient in the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) with antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects widely used in the treatment of arthritis. The research aimed to develop a new dosage form “Mouth fast dissolving films” prepared by solvent evaporation molding method. The study investigated some main components of a quick-dissolving film in the mouth, including: active ingredient MLX, and investigated film-forming excipients such as: PVA 40-88, PVP K30, HPMC E15, HPMC E6 (ratio 1-3%), a combination of plasticizing excipients such as: propylene glycol, sorbitol, glycerol, PEG 400 (ratio of 1-2.5%), aspartame used as flavor modifier from 0.1-0.2% and improve the solubility of MLX with excipient Tween 80 from 0.5-2% to create a complete film. The film making process and the finished film were evaluated based on the product organolepescence, folding endurance, disintegration time, solubility,... Research results showed that 7.5 mg meloxicam film used excipients 1% HPMC film and excipients 1.5% PEG 400 plasticizing excipients meet the toughness of the film, resulting in more than 500 times the durability, improving the solubility of MLX by 1% tween 80 and the amount of aspartame for sweetness. is 0.2%, MLX film shows good solubility with more than 70% of MLX released after 60 minutes.
