Abstract

The article focuses on assessing the current status of surface water management and proposing appropriate solutions to sustainably manage surface water resources of Yen Bai province. Through the methods used such as: data collection, analysis and processing, field survey, research has shown that although the surface water quality of Yen Bai province is quite good, some locations (such as: Tuan Quan stream, Yen Ninh ward; Nung stream, Pu Trang ward, Nghia Lo town...) have appeared pollution by organic substances with indicators (TSS, BOD5) violate national technical regulations on surface water quality. The study has revealed shortcomings related to surface water management in the province such as management of wastewater discharge activities, rural clean water supply, lack of human resources, lack of funding in planning and monitoring... Since then, the study has proposed appropriate solutions to address the above shortcomings. In addition to macro solutions, we can mention solutions such as: proposing to build a household-scale rural water treatment model; designing a propaganda network and disseminating laws on water resources...
