Abstract

The Pouzolzia zeylanica commonly found in tropical regions of South Asia, Southeast Asia, and other warm regions around the world. The main chemical components belong to the triterpenoid, flavonoids and lignans, which proven to have extremely diverse biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, strengthening blood vessel walls, anti-toxic, reducing liver damage, anti-oxidation, anti-virus and cancer. From the stem and leaves of Pouzolzia zeylanica, three compounds have been isolated and determined: Naringenin (1), bauerenol (2) and vitexin (3). The results of testing the in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of the fractions and isolated compounds obtained from Pouzolzia zeylanica was evaluated through the inhibition of LPS-triggered NO production on RAW 264.7 macrophages, the results showed total residue (PZ) at a concentration of 100 µg/ml has the ability to strongly inhibit NO production and is not toxic to cells with an IC50 of 15.24 µg/ml. The n-hexane (PZH) fraction exhibited good anti-inflammatory activity with an IC50 of 12.08 µg/ml. Compound vitexin (3) has the ability to strongly inhibit NO production and is not toxic to cells with an IC50 of 20.85 µM. The above results guide further research on chemical composition and anti-inflammatory activity in the future.
