Abstract

In recent years, indication for cesarean section, both in first-born and multiple-born babies, have received attention from obstetricians, especially in the first-born group. Controlling and providing reasonable indications for cesarean section in pregnant women with first children is necessary to contribute to reducing the cesarean section rate. With the goal of reviewing some indications for cesarean section in full-term pregnant women at Vinh Phuc provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in 2022-2023, we conducted research on 400 medical records, pregnant women giving birth to their first child with a gestational age of 37 weeks or more who had a cesarean section at Vinh Phuc Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital from April 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023. Through the cross-sectional descriptive research method, we have obtained the following results: The overall cesarean section rate at Vinh Phuc Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is 41.13%, of which cesarean section for first-borns accounts for 49.49%. Cesarean section for first-borns of the total number of cesarean sections accounted for 17.47%. The most common indication for cesarean section for first-born babies is due to pregnancy (44.3%). Of these, fetal macrosomia is the most common indication for cesarean section.
