Abstract

With the aim of identifying an appropriate fertilizer for the growth and development of two varieties of Gerbera Chrysanthemums, one dwarf and one tall, the study was conducted within a greenhouse at Tra Vinh University. The experiment was structured in a completely randomized design (CRD), employing three different fertilizer formulations (slow-release NPK, NPK combined with fish fertilzer, mineral NPK) across two variations of Gerbera Chrysanthemums: dwarf and tall. Results from Experiment 1, focusing on the dwarf Chrysanthemum variety, revealed that the combination of NPK fertilizer with fish fertilizer and slow-release NPK proved more effective in enhancing growth indicators compared to the sole use of mineral NPK. In Experiment 2, concentrating on the tall Gerbera Chrysanthemum variety, applying NPK fertilizer combined with fish fertilizer resulted in the highest measurements for leaf length (21.4 cm), leaf width (6.4 cm), number of leaves per plant (10.5 leaves), flower stem length (34.7 cm), flower diameter (9.7 cm), and average number of blooming flowers per plant (3.6 flowers). Overall, the combination of NPK fertilizer with fish fertilizer demonstrated suitability for both dwarf and tall Gerbera Chrysanthemum varieties. These findings also highlight the potential of slow-release NPK fertilizer in Gerbera Chrysanthemum cultivation due to its positive impact on growth and its eco-friendly nature.
