DISTRIBUTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BINH VOI SPECIES (Stephania brachyandra Diels) AT BA BE NATIONAL PARK, BAC KAN PROVINCE

This study focused on the distribution and environmental characteristics of Binh voi species (Stephania brachyandra Diels), one of precious medicinal plants of Vietnam and being able to extinct at Ba Be National Ppark. The study results showed: The species was distributed mainly on limestone with a very steep slope ranging from 40 to 45o. S. brachyandra grew at the altitude 200 – 1000 m and under the diferent forest types. The number of tree species living with S. brachyandra included: Streblus ilicfolius, Excentrodendron tonkinense, Pinus kwangtungensis, Syzygium wightianum, Syzygium sp., Polyalthia jucunda, Garcinia bracteata, Celtis sinensis, Acer tokinense, and Alangium kurzii. These results are a basis contribution to recommend approaches for conservation and towards the development of this rare and precious species.
