RESEARCH ON THE SITUATION OF MEDICAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT IN LAI CHAU CITY, LAI CHAU PROVINCE

Abstract


The article assesses the current situation and points out the shortcomings and causes in the management of medical solid waste in Lai Chau city, Lai Chau province. The author uses survey methods to collect information on medical solid waste management in 3 groups of medical facilities: Public hospitals, wards and commune health stations and departments typical private. Identify medical solid waste generated at health stations, wards and private clinics by collecting samples, measuring and monitoring developments for 2 months. The results show that the source control, collection, classification, transportation and treatment of medical solid waste at basic research facilities meet the requirements as prescribed by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment. At public hospitals, the volume of medical solid waste generated is large, averaging 53,451 kg/year, with good management. At commune health stations, wards and private clinics, the average volume of medical solid waste generated is 173 kg/year and 675 kg/year, respectively; the collection, classification and transportation faced many difficulties such as: storage time, means of transport, cold storage equipment; training on environmental protection.
