ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF THE NGAN HA VIEN PROJECT ON THE LIFE OF PEOPLE IN THINH DUC COMMUNE, THAI NGUYEN CITY

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Ngan Ha Vien project on the lives of people in Thinh Duc commune, Thai Nguyen city. The study conducted interviews with 90 households whose land was acquired in the project; the data was processed by Excel software and analyzed by statistical and descriptive methods. The research results show that although the project was evaluated quite well by the people in terms of compensation level, implementation process and way of land acquisition, the project had an impact on people's income and employment. Some households used compensation money inappropriately or did not know how to use it, leading to a decrease in household economy and low income. The acquired area of households was mainly production land, so for those who still had productive land, in addition to purely agricultural production, they switched to seasonal jobs such as transporting construction materials, builder assistants ... leading to low income and unstable work. Thus,  it is necessary to have mechanics for job training and changing after acquiring production land so people can have better jobs to earn more income and stabilize their lives.
