Abstract

This study describe the clinical, paraclinical characteristics and treatment of hyaline membrane disease in preterm neonate  at Thai  Nguyen  National  Hospital in 2022 - 2023. The study used a cross-sectional descriptive study design, and collected information from 93 premature neonates diagnosed with Hyaline membrane disease at Thai  Nguyen  National Hospital from July 2022 to August 2023. The results showed that the disease is common in male children (59.1%), gestational age less than 33 weeks (75.3%), and birth weight <2500g (87.1%). Hyaline membrane disease is common immediately after birth, often appearing within the first hour after birth. Common signs include are cyanosis (100%), groaning (91.4%), tachypnea (84.9%), and nasal flapping (84.9%). Damage on chest X-rays of grades III and IV accounts for a high rate of 67.7%. There were 68.8% of children prescribed Sufactant injection, the majority were given Sufactant injection early in the first 6 hours after birth (87.5%). Survival rate is 81.7%, mortality rate is 18.2%, gestation and low birth weight have high mortality rate. Signs of respiratory distress of hyaline membrane disease often appear early in children with low gestational age. The treatment of hyaline membrane disease using surfactant for preterm neonates showed positive results and should be implemented to save premature infant lives.
