Abstract

Aquaculture has been faced with huge losses in productivity caused by diseases and water pollution. Therefore, the selection of bacteria strains that have both the ability to against pathogenic bacteria and producing enzymes to use as probiotics for the decomposition of organic matter, and reduce water pollution has been  studied. Purple nonsulfur bacterium strain ND42 can inhibit Vibrio parahaemolyticus  that causes AHPND with an inhibition zone diameter of 14.66±0.31 mm and capable of producing 2 enzymes gelatinase and proteinase with clear zones diameters of 3.38±0.64 mm and 5.23±1.40 mm, respectively. Using the 16S rRNA gene sequencing, strain ND42 may belong to the species Rhodobacter sphaeroides and was named Rhodobacter sphaeroides ND42.
